TEDx Talk: Architect of Possibility

A story of the right to dream + dreaming as fundamental tool for liberation

My TED Talk takes listeners through my family’s story living through the violent, French-occupation of our ancestral home in Algeria and what it meant to have a colonial occupation limiting their dreams.

Through this story, we come to understand why dreaming is so fundamental a tool for liberation- AND - why fighting for the right to dream, when oppressive powers will strip us of it, therefore is so crucial in liberation movements.

Understanding the critical importance of being able to imagine your own future as a primary step in a liberatory journey- something that must happen in order to be able to actually build a better reality, and therefore enact collective change and betterment for all- is the lesson here.

Using dreaming as this liberatory tool, and protecting + maintaining the right to do it, is what it means to be an Architect of Possibility.

I hope to inspire listeners to embrace and uphold their own ability to be an Architect of Possibility- for the benefit of not only themselves but the positive impacts it also means for the collective as a whole- as we work towards liberation for all at the expense of none.
